This is a good idea that if you have useless stuff at your home which is damaged or repairable or not in use. You can put them outside of your home and let the needy person take them away.
My 2 cents to this idea for addition, put a label or paper with each item OR near tree or something as a banner which indicates clearly that these items are useless, or not in use or damaged so anyone who can repair and re-use is allowed to take them away as they need.
This will surely help those who are in-need of items, cannot purchase as full but can afford minimum to bear the expense of repairing it back.
